PRCiP Sp. z o.o. was commissioned by the Maritime Office in Gdynia to carry out construction works in the "design and build" formula, consisting in artificial shore power in Ustka. The works were conducted on the section of 900m, and the beach was widened from 10-20m in width to about 75m!

The works were executed by means of a drag suction dredger "INŻ. STANISŁAW ŁĘGOWSKI".

As part of the project entitled "Construction of the waterway linking the Vistula Lagoon with the Gulf of Gdańsk - Part I", whose investor is the Maritime Office in Gdynia, PRCiP Sp. z o.o., commissioned by the General Contractor - a consortium of N.V. BESIX S.A., NDI SOPOT S.A. and NDI S.A. performed dredging works on the Shelter Port from the sea side.

The scope of the dredging works included the construction from the sea of an approach with a depth of up to 6.0 m to the new Południowy Nabrzeże (Southern Quay) (Loading Quay) for vessels transporting hydrotechnical stone by sea for the needs of the construction of breakwaters of the Shelter Port and the construction of the connection of the basin inside the Shelter Port with the internal channel leading to the lock. Depending on the General Contractor's instructions, the dredged sand was deposited on the beach along the shore on both sides of the breakwaters, and was also used for backfilling of the cofferdam structure of the new breakwaters in the Containment Port.

The dredging operations were performed by the suction and cutting dredger "Trojan" with the auxiliary vessel "Bodo". The dredged material was transported to the dumping site by a system of floating and land pipelines. In order to fill the cofferdam structure, a special pontoon with an unloading end was used to direct the dredged material between the sheet pile walls forming the central core of the breakwaters.

The volume of dredged material amounted to approx. 190,000 m³.

PRCiP Sp. z o.o. started the works on 2020-09-20. Due to work in difficult conditions of the open sea in the surf zone (wave breaking), the work was possible only in good, windless weather. In case of inclement weather, shelter places were determined at the Vistula Mouth in Świbno, or behind the temporary stone causeway construction along the South Quay, and after the connection of the Shelter Port with the channel leading to the lock, a berth at the channel housing quay.

An important current investment that Przedsiębiorstwo Robót Czerpalnych i Podwodnych Sp. z o.o. is involved in is the "Design and execution of construction and dredging works as part of the modernization of the Świnoujście-Szczecin waterway to the depth of 12.5 meters. Przedsiębiorstwo Robót Czerpalnych i Podwodnych Sp. z o.o. acts as a subcontractor for DIVO joint venture, which performs the works for the ordering party - Maritime Office in Szczecin.

The dredging volume is approximately 480,000 m3

The dredging works include dredging of the northern tip of Ostrow Grabowski from a depth of +0.7 m to a depth of -7.5 m. In relation to the specifications of the Grabowski Channel, the works are performed by the multi-pitch dredger "INŻ. Tadeusz Wenda" together with the backhoe dredger with the hydraulic excavator "KRAKEN".

The dredged material is loaded by the multi-propeller dredger "INŻ. Tadeusz Wenda" or backhoe dredgers: "Kraken" and "Małż II", and then transported and splashed inside the artificial island W28 in the Szczecin Lagoon.

Prior to the commencement of dredging works by PRCiP Sp. z o.o., a ferromagnetic scan was performed in the area in question in order to identify, excavate and dispose of potentially hazardous ferromagnetic objects which do not pose a threat to the work area, and to issue a bottom cleanliness certificate.

Additionally, PRCiP Sp. z o.o. signed with the Contractor an additional Annex on performing additional dredging works in the area of Ostrow Grabowski island, from the level of -7.5 m to the bottom level of -12.5 m, along with transport and disposal of the dredged material on the artificial island W28.  It is also in the process of finalizing another Annex to the Agreement, extending the existing scope of works to include dredging works in the areas of the planned bottom reinforcement, i.e. in the vicinity of Radolin Island, Eagle Isthmus and Wielka Kępa Island, along with transport and placement of the dredged material on artificial island W28.

Work is in progress on rebuilding the turntable of Orla Przesmyk. A fragment of the Ostrow Grabowski peninsula in Szczecin will be cut down. Thanks to this, the turntable for ships will increase its diameter from 280 to 362 m and its depth from 10.5 to 12.5 m. The contractor of the investment is Przedsiębiorstwo Robót Podwodnych i Czerpalnych with the units "inż. Tadeusz Wenda" and "Kraken".

Since the end of October works have been carried out as part of the "Artificial shore power supply in Wicie km: 260, 490-261, 190". Currently, a pipeline has been laid, through which the excavated material will be pumped, and then the beach will be formed with a bulldozer. The contractor is Przedsiębiorstwo Robót Czerpalnych i Podwodnych Sp. z o.o. and the deadline for completion is 21 December.
